Hi Scouts, hopefully all of you are refreshed as the common test has just ended. Hopefully all of you did well for your common tests, if not, don't give up.

As this is the second meeting after CTs, standard of discipline should still be maintained, this means proper attire, no fidgeting during fall in etc.

*Reminder:  There will be NDP selection trials this Saturday and next Saturday. Also, there will be a campfire in Zhong Hua on 19th March.

**Note: Sec 1s are to bring their Macbooks for Wednesday's meeting.

19/3/16 Zhong Hua Campfire

Dear Scouts,

  a google form regarding the Zhong Hua Campfire has already been sent to everyone. Please fill it up by today 28/2/16 2359. If you have already done it, take the initiative to remind your brothers, a simple gesture such as sending a picture of this blog post will be a greater help than you think.

  Lastly, on behalf of the Unit, I want to thank everyone who came for the South Area Campfire and brining back the "Most Enthusiastic Award" back to who it belongs, Phantoms! Without any of you, the campfire will not be the same.

  "United we stand, divided we fall" Let's do this together and make sure the award is ours!

27/2/16 National Day Parade selection trials

Fall in: Braddel MRT's gantry
Time: 1200 - 1700
Attire: FSU

  This post only concern those who are interested and have signed up via the google form for the National Day Parade 2016. I apologize for the late post as there was not a confirmation made by the NDP committee side. As for the ending time, it might vary depending on how the trial goes. I suggest Scouts to travel straight to Bishan and meet us there for the campfire as it will save you more time.

  Please be reminded to have your lunch before you come. I will bring you guys from Braddel MRT to Beatty Secondary School where the selection trials will take place.

 Bare in mind, from then on, the NDP committee will be in-charge, so any instructions will be given by them. This might be a once in a life opportunity to be part of the NDP, it is up to you solely whether you want to cherrish it or blow it. Have fun and make new friends there, it will be an experience you will never forget! Goodluck!

Note: Bring both your national and unit scarfs.

Those Scouts who want to travel there yourselves are to meet us at Beatty Secondary School.

27/2/16 South Area Campfire

Fall in: Bishan MRT's entrance (nearest to Breadtalk)
Time: 1800 - 2200
Attire: FSU, PT Kit 2 with National Scarf (Sec 1s)

  Finally the first campfire of the year! It will be held at RI, and this time it will not be a gangshow! It will be an actual campfire! I hope you guys familarise yourself with the cheers and campfire songs as it will be used tomorrow!

  If there any doubts or clarifications, please conatct your PLs or APLs ASAP.

  It's only going to be a fun and exciting campfire if you guys have that mentality! Let's take over the campfire and win the "Most Enthusiastic Award" tomorrow! Remember to have fun! See you all tomorrow! Remember to have your dinner before you come.


Note: Sec 1s bring along your national scarf with the woggle

For this meeting, the FSU does not include foot-drill boots

Except the Sec 1s, the rest of the Scouts will be wearing the Unit Scarf.

22nd February Monday Scout's Founder's Day

Fall in: Outside Scout den
Time: 0630
Attire: FSU, PT Kit 2 for Sec 1s

  Worldwide in nearly all Scout associations, Founders' Day is celebrated on 22 February, the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, and coincidentally also of his wife Olave Baden-Powell. 

  We will be commemorating the Scout's Founder's Day tomorrow in the Shaw hall. It is the only day every year where you get to wear your Scout attire for the entire day without changing to school uniform.

  Let us show the entire school who we are, not just Scouts but Phantom Scouts. We will make sure we make those Marists regret not joining Scouts! See you all tomorrow!

Note: ALL Scouts are required to attend.

Scouts are not required to change the Toa Payoh district badge to the new Area badge 

Scouts are to fall in at 0630 SHARP.

Scouts who have PE lessons are required to change back to the respective attire afterwards (FSU or PT Kit 2 for Sec 1s)

We will be wearing Unit's Scarf NOT National scarf


Reminder: All Scouts except the Sec 1 Scouts are required to wear their foot-drill boots.

Sec 1 Scouts will be wearing PT Kit 2 ( Unit T-shirt with PE shorts, black shoes with Scout's socks)

Make sure all the components of your FSU are properly don. ( Refer to the packing list for the investiture camp, it shows all the components where you use it as a checklist.

Hi scouts, below is the packing list for scouts.

Things to take note:
Do not bring any unauthorised materials (Eg. Food , Poker Cards or other electronic devices). If participants are caught bringing the following above item, they will be confiscated and returned at the end of the camp.
Phones and Wallet are to be collected before the camp and only returned when the camp breaks.
Participants are to bring extra items but not less . (e.g. u can bring 3 PE pants, but not 1 PE pants.)

17th Wednesday Febuary short briefing and purchase of FSU for Sec 1s

Fall in: Outside 2H (Sec 2-4 not required to fall in but still required to attend)
Time: 1425
Attire: PE attire for Sec 1s

Hi Scouts, there will be a short briefing this Wednesday outside 2H, attendance is compulsory of course. Also, you will recieve a form for the Sec 1 investiture camp on this briefing.

As for the Sec 1s, we will be bring you to the Scout HQ to purchase your FSU, bring along $80 in cash. For the black shoes, you are required to buy them yourselves.

As the common test for Sec 1s to 3s are approaching, it is expected for ALL of you to work hard for it and be the best that you can be. On behalf of the Sec 4s, I wish you all the best for this upcoming CTs!  加油!!

Note: It is compulsory for all to fill in the google form indicating which events you want to go for.

12th February Friday Scout Meeting

Attire: FSU, PT Kit 2 for Sec 1s, Sec 4s bring along Unit T-Shirt

  The temporary in charge until the Sec 4s are back will be APL Benson & Riley. The Sec 3s will be given the role of an instructor, giving them a chance to show their leadership potential.

  In the event of wet weather, Scouts are to fall in outside the Scout den and are not required to build the flagpole. Ryan Lee

Note: Sec 4 Scouts are to fall in outside the Scout den at 1525 in half-u. Sec 4s are still required to bring along FSU.

National Day Parade 2016 Scout Marching Contingent


NATIONAL DAY PARADE 2016 - INVITATION TO 


PARTICIPATE IN MARCHING CONTINGENT


On 9 August 2016, Singapore will celebrate her 51 years of independence with the annual National Day Parade (NDP) held at Singapore Sports Hub. NDP has always served as a rallying point for Singaporeans to celebrate our collective identity and strive towards a better future.

NDP has been recognised as part of the National Education for Total Defence by the Ministry of Education (MOE). Once again, the Singapore Scout Association (SSA) is proud to be invited by the EXCO NDP 2016 to participate in the Uniformed Group’s marching contingent for NDP 2016. We would like to invite your Unit to participate in this year’s marching Contingent. We strongly encourage your participation and support for NDP 2016. A total of 42 participants (including reserves) are required.
Three selection sessions have been scheduled on 27/2, 5/3 and 12/3 (all Saturdays) at Beatty Secondary School. They are to report in Full Uniform. There will be a briefing session for selected participants.

Attendance is Compulsory for all sessions.

Pre-Requisites

· ONLY Singaporeans or Permanent Residents.
· Preferable height between 1.5m to 1.8m.
· Willingness to commit at least 90% of the total attendance.

Medical Conditions

Interested participants should be medically fit. Those with heart problem, high blood pressure, asthma, history of heat exhaustion or any other medical conditions unsuitable for marching are advised not to participate.

Training Schedule

Pre-contingent training may commence in March 2016 (the exact date will be notified through GSL via email) at designated school premises. Most rehearsals are scheduled on Saturdays after mid-year examinations.
The series of Combined Component Rehearsals (CCR) at Nee Soon Camp is expected to start from May 2016. The training schedule will be given to all selected participants.

Food and Transportation
Lunch and dinner will be provided for all rehearsals. Transportation will be arranged to pick-up and drop-off participants at stipulated locations.

· NYAA - CIP hours for Ceremonial Drill
· MOE CCA Points – 2 points (1st year), 3 points (2nd year) and 4 points (3rd year)
· NDP Award Badge & Certificate of Appreciation
