25th-26th JUNE HIKE(1st INTAKE)
Fall in: Scout Den
Reporting time: 730am (DO NOT BE LATE)
End of hike time: 1-5pm. Depends on how fast you can finish the hike.
Attire: Standardized patrol attire, need not be FSU
Some compulsory items to bring:
Money
Phone
Ez-link card
Water
Dome tent
Some of you have spoken with me that this 2D1N hike does not adhere to the ASS Scouting Standard in the scout booklet. As such, only for those who have went for DEXUFTO and hiked for 35km will be eligible to try to pass the FCS Hike Log and pass FCS Hike component.
However, the marking criteria for the FCS Hike report will be at least a few levels higher than the ASS Hike report and they must be submitted on the day itself with the photos developed for each checkpoint and inserted all into the hike log.
Companions for the FCS hike will only be able to pass their ASS hike and ASS Hike logs submission datelines will be given after the FCS hike logs are marked by me.
Hence, just a brief summary of the FCS Hike report.
-> Photos developed on day itself, companions can help
->Whole Report must be submitted with checkpoint descriptions, reflections, packing list, legends, content page, cover page, all things stated in the latest whatsapp photo and most importantly a file to store all of them neatly.
->For scouts who are ocd and want to make their report really good, the formats of your hike log as well as your type of file can be altered and changed into anything you think suits best
For scouts who have not went for dexufto, it definitely does not mean that your hike log standards will be lower. I want to see the effort put in to help each other in the patrol. Whether or not you guys put in the effort, it all can be seened from the hike log. Do your BEST!
Remember to buy all your materials before hand(IN PACKING LIST AND GET A SUITABLE HAVERSACK) and be prepared for this hike. For some of you it may be mentally and physically exhaustive but for others who have past experience, this may seem nothing compared to DEXUFTO. ALL in ALL, always work together as a patrol and: Stay Frosty, healthy and remain calm at all times gentlemen. Lastly remember to enjoy yourselves during the hike, you have the liberty to plan and do anything you like just make sure you base it on the scout law and promise.
Yours in hiking,
Don

These are the 4 Patrols participating in this hike. Since none of you have passed the First Class Scout hike, all of you will be aiming to pass the Advanced Scout Standard hike component. Thereafter in November, tentatively, there will be another FCS and ASS hike.
Important instructions: Each of the 4 Patrols must have the latest updated exploration map and each scout must have a silvia compass with him. These equipment can be bought at Scout Headquarters. To be more efficient, you can contact each other and get a representative down to buy it for the unit or for the patrol.
These 2 trainings are extremely important to pass your ASS hike on the 25th and 26th of June, hence it is compulsory to come unless valid reasons are given. Attendance will be taken and scouts who are unable to make it for either these 2 trainings will not be able to go for the June Hike.
Reminder, ensure that you buy the proper materials by the training dates, rest well and I will see you on Wednesday.
Regards,
Don
