29th March CIP Event.

EARTH HOUR

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change.  Within a year, Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people participating across 35 countries. Now it is a global phenomenon.

2014 - In a unique partnership, Spiderman will be the first superhero ambassador for Earth Hour, the global movement organised by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), with a message to inspire everybody to be superheroes and use their power to drive a positive change for the environment. Singapore is the home of Earth Hour and is at the epicentre of the global movement towards a sustainable future.

In partnership with WWF Singapore, The Singapore Scout Association (SSA) is once again proud to support Earth Hour for the sixth consecutive year since its humble beginnings in Singapore in 2009.

On 29 March 2014, at 8.30pm, Singapore will join thousands of cities across the world in switching off non-essential lighting for one hour -Earth Hour- sending a powerful global message that it is possible to take action against global warming. This year, the main event will be held at The Float @ Marina Bay.
Scouts do take note this CIP Project will be recorded in your year end report by contributing to the CIP hours. So make sure you do not waste this opportunity and take part in it! More details will be updated later. Please check the blog regularly for updates.

ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS

As for the Job Week, I hope most of you have already collected more than a 100 dollars, if not buck up and work harder, enjoy this process of labouring. You don't get this exposure in other CCAs!

PLs and APLs try to arrange another meeting for your patrols to reach the target of $250 for the jobweek.

As for the scouts participating in the National Day Parade 2014, make sure you keep in close contact with Mr Low, if you miss the few weeks of training, you will not be guaranteed a slot in the marching contingent!

Yours in Scouting,
Don
