PLTC 2011

Hi Scouts,

As you all know, Patrol Leaders' Training Course (Camp) is a camp that aims to share leadership skills that involve the running of a Patrol and Scout Unit. Having gone through the PLTC will enable a Scout knowledge on leadership styles and provide insights into oneself.

All Scouts who wish to serve the Scout Unit by being in the Patrol Leaders' Council (PLC) in the next term must attend the PLTC. In addition, it is one of the components in the First Class Scout Standard (FCS).

Below are the details of the 3 PLTC that will be held in June:

Point-of-Contact: SPL Daryl Chan

2) Toa Payoh District PLTC

Attendance

All Scouts, please take note of the following.

With immediate effect, all Scouts who are absent from any Scout meetings are to duly submit their Medical Certificates (MCs) to the teacher in charge of their respective levels personally.

If you have any queries relating to attendance, please do approach the teacher in charge of your level.

Secondary 4 Scouts: Mr Low Tung Mun (Humanities Department, Geography)

Secondary 3 Scouts: Mdm Nurdiana (English Language & Literature Department, English)

Secondary 2 Scouts: Mdm Maureen Tan (PE & Aesthetics Department, Home Economics)

Secondary 1 Scouts: Mdm Lim Pei Ying (Science Department)

As an emphasis, all Scouts are to submit their MCs personally. They are not to request for the assistance of their brothers-in-scouting to submit on their behalf nor are they to ask a teacher in charge of another level to pass it to the teacher in charge of their level.

The reason for the above is to inoculate the sense of responsibility in every Phantom Scout. Moreover, it minimizes any likely inconveniences that there may be for everyone in the event of any discrepancies found in the documents submitted. We should, at the end of the day, alway spare a thought for others.

In addition, we will be adhering to the disciplinary system that's enforced by the school. In the event of absence without a valid reason,

1st offence: Verbal Warning
2nd offence: Parents to be notified
3rd offence: CCA Warning Letter (HOD PE Department will be notified)
4th offence: Referral to HOD PE Department

Lastly, do take note that documents and/or MCs for Term 1 and Term 2 are to be submitted to the teacher in charge of your respective levels latest by 22nd April 2011. Do collect your MCs back from your SPLs/PLs if you have previously submitted it to them and pass them to your respective teacher-in-charge. Please do adhere to the stipulated deadline as your attendance will be submitted to the General Office for it to be keyed into the school system.

You may check your attendance for Term 1 and Term 2 through the following:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AixcD6PVLBzfdG85dGZGV2xHbTRBd1Ewa1Q0SHdkbEE&hl=en&authkey=CNzTo4EH

Note:
"1" denotes "present"
"0" denotes "absent without valid reason"
"E" denotes "excused / absent but with supporting document or valid reason"
Blanks in the spreadsheet means that the Scout was absent from the meeting but no supporting documents were submitted. Blanks will be marked "0" on 23rd April 2011.

Yours-in-Scouting,
SL Eric Soong

National Patrol Camp (NPC) 2011

The National Patrol Camp held once every two years would be held this year during the end-of-year vacation. The Camp would be a 5-day event with many competitions each day on all the different set of scouting skills such as First Aid, Backwoodsman, Pioneering and much more.

Our Scout Unit clinched the Gold Award in the Year 2009 and we would strive to better ourselves in 2011.

All Scouts are welcomed to come forth to join the NPC Trainee Team for this exciting Camp where you will be making new friends while competing in a myriad of activities. Do note that some training sessions would be conducted over the mid-year vacations and on selected Saturdays during term time. Attendance is essential for selection into NPC Team 2011.

The finalized team would be selected after all preliminary trainings have been conducted and selection would be under the discretion of the NPC Training Team.

Scouts who are interested are to inform their Patrol Leaders by the 8th of April 2011. No late entries would be accepted.

Yours-in-Scouting,
Dominique

With Each Passing Day...

We see Scouts growing up (and not just grow older), growing to be more mature, growing in their thinking, and growing to be people with a polished character.

For a start, the resounding echo of "One for All, All for One" at St Margret's was excellent but we will need to move beyond words and put them into actions.

Secondly, I take heart in seeing Scouts giving up their seats when I boarded the bus and apologizing when they caused inconvenience to other passengers.

Courtesy and Compassion.

Well done people!

BUT I'M REALLY NOT THAT OLD FOR YOU GUYS TO GIVE UP SEATS FOR ME!!! (But I truly appreciate the kind gesture and now, extend this to those in need, so keep your eyes opened when you're on the bus/train for the old, the young, and the needy)

Good job, guys!
